Bloods continue their superb form

Droylsden followed up last week’s big win against Nelson with a resounding 3-0 win away to league strugglers Steeton on Saturday.

The Bloods continue to pick up points and keep up with the pace of the promotion-pushing pack.

George Kattah kept up his remarkable goalscoring form since signing for Droylsden, netting twice to make it eight goals in seven matches. The first came in the 43rd minute, being picked out by Sheriff Njie before firing into the top corner with his left foot. His brace was completed just before full-time, firing low, ricocheting off a wheel attached to the goal, but the ball had already crossed the line.

Nellson Van was the other scorer for Dave Pace’s side, netting in the 71st minute, Sheriff Njie’s initial effort was saved by Bradley Emmerson before Van was on hand to slot the ball into the empty net – his sixth of the season.

The Bloods now sit fourth in the league table, a point behind Holker Old Boys who were beaten by league leaders Atherton LR on Saturday, although Holker does have a game in hand on Droylsden. Meanwhile, Droylsden has a game in hand on second-placed Nelson, a win would see the Bloods go above them with a superior goal difference.

It’s now a break from league action on Saturday, as Euxton Villa visit the Butchers Arms for the second round of the Edward Case Cup. The two faced one another on the opening day of the campaign, which resulted in a 2-1 win for Droylsden.
