Ashton taken to a replay by Tadcaster

Ashton United will have been grateful to have a second chance in the FA Cup after being largely outplayed by their lower division opponents.

The visitors were showing an unchanged line up but the hosts were first on to the attack as speedy winger Chimalilo escaped John Pritchard down the right wing and saw his cross scuffed wide by Margetts. Chimalilo then latched on to a pass from midfield and cut across Jonathon Hunt but knocked the ball too close to Worsnop and Margetts headed Stewart’s cross over the top from close range.

Just before the half hour a ball through the middle saw Chimalilo just beaten to the ball by the advancing Worsnop who miscued his clearance leaving the winger to stroke the ball into the empty net. On the hour Luca Haven saw a shot deflected wide after Hunt had dummied Sheridan’s cross and 5 minutes later Havern equalised as he glanced home Pritchard’s header from Sheridan’s free kick.

Just a minute later and the Brewers were back in front as Evans headed home Margetts’ return ball after Chimalilo’s effort had been palmed away and the hosts could had extended their lead as Dos Santos spread the ball wide to Margetts whose clever chip landed on the roof of the net. Havern then got in the action again as he headed Pritchard’s deep corner goal wards from where Connor Hughes touched the ball over the line.

The action was still not finished as Hughes sent an effort skimming over the bar from Tames’ left wing cross and at the other end Stewart’s pull back saw Day denied close in by Worsnop. Havern then rescued the Robins after Stewart had turned past Hunt and Day guided Mbeka Lebrun’s header over from a free kick before Worsnop again got the better of Stewart. Entering added time Stewart played Rogerson through on Worsnop from where he failed to make a name for himself after rounding the keeper he could only hit the side netting with the goal gaping.

Team: Worsnop, Obeng, Pritchard, Havern, Hunt, Sheridan, Clee (Tomsett 62), Rowney (Smith 76) , Tames (Crowther 85),Wilson, Hughes. SNU: Cottam, Woodford.
