Five star Hyde United

Hat-trick hero Lewis Alessandra helped Hyde United to a 5-0 win at home to Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday (January 20), extending their unbeaten run to eleven games.

Over 700 fans made the trip down to The Project Solar Stadium, and they were not disappointed with what they saw.

The Tigers made the perfect start to the match, taking the lead after just five minutes through Lewis Alessandra’s perfectly measured strike, with the forward side-footing the ball into the bottom right corner from just outside the area to put Hyde ahead.

This lead was doubled moments later, when defensive midfielder Callum Spooner found himself in an unfamiliar position inside the penalty area after he was slipped in by Alessandra and took the chance like an experienced number nine, dinking the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper to put Hyde two up.

After finding themselves ahead, hosts Hyde seemed to fall back into their shape and allowed visitors Bradford to have a bit more of the ball.

The away side came close to scoring just before the break with striker Justin Iwobi rolling his defender and unleashing an effort on goal, which was dealt with well by Hyde goalkeeper Jordan Eastham.

This chance seemed to kick Hyde into gear and they flew out of the blocks in the second half with a point to prove.

On 46 minutes they extended their lead to three, with Josh Doherty’s sublime 25-yard free-kick nestling into the top right-hand corner, this was without doubt the goal of the afternoon.

Lewis Alessandra then got his second of the afternoon on the hour mark after the ball broke to Jack Redshaw inside the area, and when his shot was blocked, the rebound fell to the feet of Alessandra who lashed the ball home on the half-volley to put Hyde four goals to the good.

Alessandra then put the icing on the cake ten minutes from time, scoring Hyde’s fifth goal of the afternoon and completing his hat trick, finding himself in on goal directly from Eastham’s goal kick and slotting the ball into the bottom left corner.

The emphatic win means the Tigers remain fourth in the table and in a fantastic position ahead of their trip to Morpeth Town on Saturday.
