Glossop North End vice-captain Gabriel Mooney-Muñoz has announced he will be departing Surrey Street this summer to embark on a new challenge.

The midfield maestro joined The Hillmen in December 2024, quickly endearing himself to the Glossop faithful before a stellar 2025/26 campaign cemented his status as a fan favourite.

Mooney-Muñoz featured in all 56 matches for GNE last season, winning Man of the Match in 15 and going on to pick up the Supporters Player of the Season award in the process.

The Spaniard has captained the club on a number of occasions, and signed off his Glossop career in style, walking out at Pride Park in April’s Derbyshire Senior Cup Final.

Announcing his departure, Mooney-Muñoz released the following statement:

“I’ve made the difficult decision to leave Glossop North End.

“This club has meant a lot to me. From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel welcome and I’ve certainly enjoyed my football here.

“Thank you to the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes, my teammates, and all the fans, who have always supported me, from my first home game on Boxing Day in 2024, to my last game at Pride Park.

“I’ve enjoyed my time on and off the pitch and made memories I’ll never forget and mates for life, you know who you are. I wish everyone connected with the club nothing but the best in the future. ¡Gracias por todo, Hillmen!”
