Glossop gymnasts excel

A group of gymnasts from Glossop are celebrating success in a regional competition. 

Back in May, 63 members of Glossop Gymnastics Club - aged between 4 and 15 - competed in a floor and vault competition in Macclesfield against hundreds of other gymnasts from rival clubs. 

The event, which took place between May 10-11, saw the gymnasts come away with a plethora of medals, wowing the judges with their skills and tricks. 

They picked up 11 golds, 11 silvers and 20 bronzes, as well as 20 4th place rosettes and 10 special commendation rosettes. 

To add to this fantastic achievement, the team also picked up two artistry awards, 18 achievement cards and three number design winners. 

Following the triumph, the club’s coach Kristy Todd told the Chronicle: “We were so proud of the professional way the gymnasts conducted themselves and the fabulous sportsmanship demonstrated throughout.  

“The skill levels on show just keeps getting better and better and that’s through their dedication in training.  

“We can’t wait for our next competition, so the gymnasts have their chance to shine again.”
