Georgia Taylor-Brown will be the special guest at the Isle of Man Sports Awards which take place on February 27.
The Droylsden triathlete, who has a full set of Olympic medals and is the current world Supertri champion, said she’s looking forward to her first trip to the island: “I am really excited to attend. It will be my first visit to the Isle of Man, but I am well aware of the island’s deep sporting roots.
“I can’t wait to meet the athletes and immerse myself in the island’s sporting culture for a few days.”
Split into Sportsman and Sportswomen of the Year categories, the headline nominees include Wimbledon debutee Billy Harris, Olympic equestrian competitor Yasmin Ingham, and record-breaking cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish, who retired from competition in 2024.
Daphne Caine MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, said: “I am delighted that Georgia has accepted our invitation, and I am confident that everyone attending will gain valuable insights from her dedication, resilience, and success.”
GTB, who turns 31 in March, has also hinted that she could devote more time on her bike in 2025, after spending a 10-day training camp with the EF-Oatly-Cannondale women’s pro cycling team near Girona, Spain.
She teased her new direction with an Instagram post last week:
“So Georgia, what are your 2025 plans?
“What do I know? I do know I love cycling and have wanted to give it a whack. So, I had a very fortunate opportunity to join @efeducation.oatly on their training camp for 10 days! It was for sure a shock to my unfit system but I learnt so much, met some really lovely ladies, worked hard and hopefully left a bit fitter - thank you for welcoming me into your world
“What I don’t know? In all honesty, there’s a lot I don’t know. I don’t know what my future looks like and that’s scary but exciting! I might dip in and out of triathlons, I might try bike racing, I’m just going with the flow. But I need this year as a reset & to try something shiny and new.
“So, you might see me race triathlons, but you might not, confused? Me too. I’m a girl and I change my mind a lot - just bear with me!
