Hyde held to draw at Whitby Town

Hyde United were denied the chance to move to the top of the NPL Premier Division on Tuesday night.

Nick Spooner's side had a great opportunity to leapfrog South Shields and move into first place, however their title chances took a slight hit after drawing 1-1 at Whitby.

Jack Redshaw, who has been a colossal figure in the Hyde squad following his move from Ashton United over summer, put the Tigers ahead in the 40th minute. Sponner's side were unable to maintain the lead and conceded in the 82nd minute when Harry Green drew the hosts level.

Hye, who remain in second spot, will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend with the short trip to Radcliffe, who are currently seventh in the table.
