Local martial arts club have a new champion

A local martial arts club are celebrating success in a regional competition.

Matrix Martial Arts in Hadfield have a brand new Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion after winning at the All Stars BJJ North competition

The event, which took place on Sunday, June 29, saw Callum Brierley pick up four victories in total - winning double gold and bagging a cash prize in the open weight division. 

Speaking on the achievement, Lead Instructor, and 4th Dan blackbelt, Sensei Jake Johnson said:

“Consistency is key! We couldn’t be more proud!”

Matrix is a club committed to nurturing the next generation of martial artists, teaching both kickboxing and jiu-jitsu with classes for both beginners and those who are more advanced.

This includes ladies-only kickboxing classes and kids classes, starting from 4 years old.

They are accredited as a club of excellence by the British Martial Arts and Boxing Academy, have a safeguarding in sport kitemark, and are the only club currently authorised to use the #PunchLikeAGirl, for their amazing, safe and supportive ladies only kickboxing classes.
