Massey returns to the ring

After over six months away, High Peak boxer Jack Massey returns to the ring this weekend to take on fellow Brit Cheavon Clarke in Bournemouth. 

The Chapel-en-le-Frith born star – who was granted the Freedom of the Town back in 2021 – will look to extend his record to 24 wins on the South Coast, with a victory potentially setting up a mouthwatering bout with Chris Billam-Smith. 

Set to be broadcast live on Sky Sports, the clash will see 'One Smack’ make his Zuffa Boxing debut after signing a three-fight deal with the new organisation founded by Dana White and Turki Al-Sheikh. 

The ten-rounder is the co-feature to the main event which sees Billam-Smith face off against Ryan Rozicki in his hometown. 

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the fight, Massey commented: 

"It is going to be a cracking fight, I just think I'm a better fighter overall and a lot more experienced than him.  

"I have had a lot more fights. I have been around the game longer. 

"I have been a professional for 13 years, been in bigger fights, stepped up in heavyweight and big fights, and fought world champions and past world champions. 

"I just think I'm going to trump him on all levels."

"He [Clarke] is obviously coming to win," Massey added. "I think it's make or break for him. 

"For both of us, it's time to shine and show everyone what we're about, so it's going to be a great fight." 

Massey goes into the cruiserweight showdown off the back of a fourth round TKO victory over Ivan Gabriel Garcia in December, while Clarke returns to the ring following a fourth round KO of Anthony Hollaway.
