Following a run of three defeats in four, Curzon Ashton bounced back in style on Tuesday night with a statement 4-0 win at high-flyers Warrington Town.
A superb brace from second half substitute Ola Lawal added gloss to a five-star performance, as the Nash ended the Yellows’ unbeaten start to the season.
Adam Barton’s side stormed into an early lead at Cantilever Park, with Alex Curran turning home Danny Whitehead’s cross to break the deadlock on 13 minutes.
This lead was doubled with 14 to play, with Harvey Roberts – who was the hero on the opening day – netting his second of the campaign to put Curzon in control.
The visitors weren’t finished there, with Lawal opening his account within 10 minutes of entering the field, before sealing his brace with an outstanding overhead kick deep into stoppage time.
“I’m so made up for the lads,” said a relieved Barton following the win.
“It’s tough when you’re getting results like we have been, and performing the way we have.
“I’ve always been really calm, because I could see the performances, and they were getting better.
“You lose a game and everyone’s heads are down, but I was fine, because I knew it was coming.
“I knew what we were working on was working – I kept saying to the lads, it’s a matter of time.”
