Oldham Host Macclesfield

Oldham Athletic host Macclesfield Town this weekend as that Latics try to recover from their thumping away at Mansfield last weekend.

Oldham come into the game on the back of an embarrassing defeat in which they shipped six goals and had two players sent off in one minute. To make matters worse Mansfield striker Nicky Maynard bagged a hat-trick just days after club director Barry Owens claimed the club had tried to sign the striker but he wanted too much money and “Isn’t pulling up any plants at Mansfield”.

The defeat left Oldham in 21st place with just four points separating them and the relegation zone after 13 games.

Macclesfield have had a good start to the season on the field as they find themselves in 12th place on 17 points. In their last game, Macclesfield came out 2-1 winners as they hosted Port Vale. However, Off the field, things aren’t so good with the club struggling financially with the players and staff only being paid their September wages this week.

Oldham have no fresh injury worries ahead of the game however they will be without Tomas Egert and Filipe Morais after they both received red cards in the last game. Oldham can also welcome back Desire Segbe Azankpo and Zeus de la Paz after they have represented their countries on international duty.

A win for Oldham could see them move up to 20th but a loss could see them just one point above the relegation zone in 23rd place.
