Oldham issue fan information ahead of two games

Fans who travel to away games need to know the following new information regarding Oldham's Betfred Championship matches at Toulouse Olympique, Whitehaven and Sheffield Eagles.

Toulouse away, Saturday, February 8:

Kick-off is now 6pm at Stade Ernest-Wallon, home of rugby union club Stade Toulousain.  The stadium was built in the late 1980s and recently renovated. Capacity is 19,500. France have played both England and New Zealand there, as have Catalans Dragons who played Hull KR at Ernest-Wallon in front of a capacity crowd in 2013.

Whitehaven away, Sunday, February 16:

Kick-off is now 6.15pm for purposes of live streaming by OuRLeague. Fans who haven't yet joined OuRLeague (it's free) can do so now and watch the Whitehaven-Oldham game in the comfort of their favourite armchair, while simultaneously helping Oldham RLFC by joining OuRLeague.

Sheffield Eagles away, Wednesday, April 15, kick-off 7.45pm:

Sheffield's new home at the Olympic Legacy Park won't be ready by then, so the Eagles first three Championship home games, including the Oldham game, will be played in Doncaster at the Castle Park home of Doncaster Knights RUFC, Armthorpe Road, Doncaster DN2 5QB.  It has a capacity of 5,000 with 1,650 seats in the De Mulder-Lloyd Stand, along with other first-class facilities for spectators and players alike.

In each case this information will be repeated in the days leading up to the game.

Curzon Ashton have confirmed the resignation of club chairman John Clayton, who has stepped down from his role due to ‘personal circumstances’.

  • Latics diary: The cursing of dreams

A few weeks ago on these pages, after Latics had lost three games in a row, conceding three goals in each game, I wrote them off for the season. Consolidation achieved, but with an unfulfilled objective to entertain and compete. Latics have won four games and drawn two, including last week’s stand-off against leaders Bromley at Hayes Lane, and the season is back in the balance. Tranmere Rovers were there to be hammered at Prenton Park, and Latics obliged. Tequila!

  • Tranmere Rovers 1 – 3 Oldham Athletic: Big day out for Latics ends in big win

This was one of the good days. Latics were dominant: craftier, harder-working, more resolute and more ruthless than their opponents, better man-for-man, better as a team.

  • Preview Tranmere Rovers v Latics: here come the BAWA

Latics’ last visit to Prenton Park was memorable for lots of reasons. In beating Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup 1st Round in November 2024, Latics were signalling unambiguous intent and capability in what became the season when they won promotion out of the National League.
