Ashton United, the only Tameside club left in this year's FA Cup, have discovered their second qualifying round opponents.
After coming from 2-0 down to thrash Whitby Town 5-2 in the previous round, the Robins have been rewarded with a trip to Steve Cunningham’s former side, Buxton.
During his time with the Bucks, Cunningham guided the club to the FA Cup second round proper back in 2021, seeing off then League Two side York City on the way.
The sides almost met in last season’s fourth qualifying round, but with Buxton already through, Ashton fell short in their replay with step 4 Runcorn Linnets.
The pair will finally lock horns on September 19 at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
