Glossop North End’s wait for a win goes on after The Hillmen fell to a home defeat to strugglers Abbey Hey on Saturday.
A single second-half strike was enough to see the visitors through on a sunny afternoon at Surrey Street.
After a goalless first half, GNE sprung into life at the start of the second, with Ethan Sutcliffe going close twice either side of the hour.
Firstly, the forward saw his header land just wide from Connor Berry’s cross before dragging his effort wide of the post moments later.
The deadlock was finally broken on 67 minutes when visitors Abbey Hey went ahead, with Dillon Edmundson sweeping home from close range after his teammate’s initial effort was diverted into his path.
Despite a hefty chunk of added time, the hosts were unable to find a route back into the game, as Abbey Hey left with all three points.
“I’d like to apologise to the fans,” said a disappointed Lee Wilshaw following the defeat.
“People pay good money to turn up here at Glossop, and we had a cracking crowd on today.
“We didn’t have the players on the pitch that were willing to drive levels today.”
