Stalybridge earn a point away at Buxton

Stalybridge Celtic claimed a hard-fought point in what was a fairly dull game with limited chances for both sides.

Liam Hardy and former Celtic player Jude Oyibo were both stopped by smart saves from on-loan Manchester United keeper Alex Fojticek.

In blustery conditions neither side found a settle pattern and defences were on top for both sides. Then, moments before half-time, both sides were reduced to ten men. Priestly let fly with an elbow on Valentine which the referee didnt see.

Craig Hobson reacted angrily to the incident and shoved Priestly to the floor, before a melee ensued. Both Priestly and Hobson were sent for early baths.

The second half was similar to the first. When Buxton did manage to break the Celtic defence they came up against an in form Fojticek. The on loan Manchester United keeper has impressed in his early weeks at Celtic and again showed why he is highly thought of at Old Trafford.

Scott Bakkor went closest for Celtic but he couldn't find the target as he saw his attempt go narrowly wide. All in all, it was a point gained for Simon Haworth's side. Despite a slow start, Buxton are one of the fancied sides in the Northern Premier League.
