Weston waves goodbye

Curzon Ashton have been handed a huge blow just four games into their NPL Premier campaign, with last season’s top scorer Tony Weston set to depart the club.

The talismanic winger has made the switch to National League North side Buxton, joining for an undisclosed fee.

Weston joined Curzon last summer following the expiry of his contract at Championship side Derby County, going on to net 17 goals in 46 league matches.

The 22-year-old scouser also made a strong start to this season, netting a brace in a 3-2 loss at Bury earlier this month.

Weston leaves with The Nash placed 15th in the table, having won just one of their opening four outings.
