A grand effort for Macmillan

The Place of Welcome team in Ashton are celebrating after raising £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The group held several fund-raising events for the charity at the Richmond Street Community Centre, which included a cake sale, tombola and raffle.

The funds were raised throughout September for Macmillan, which provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also supports with the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care.

The Place of Welcome group meets each Thursday morning from 10am to 1pm at the Richmond Street Community Centre, Richmond Street, Ashton, and offers friendship, hospitality, and free refreshments in a regular, welcoming environment.

For more information about the group you can contact Ken Marks 07930 389877.
