Ashton man remanded on GBH charge after Saturday night stabbing

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent following an attack last Saturday night on Broadoak Road in Ashton.

Andrew Hill, 39, of Pottinger Street handed himself in after police conducted house-to-house enquiries and tried several arrest attempts earlier in the week.

He was remanded in custody following an appearance at Salford and Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, with his next date set for Thursday, September 19 at Minshull Street Crown Court.

The 24-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious stab wounds in the attack close to the Broadoak and Smallshaw Community Centre.
