Music Production students from Ashton Sixth Form College followed in the footsteps of some of music’s biggest names when they took over Manchester’s Gorilla for an unforgettable evening of live music.
The 500-capacity venue, which has welcomed artists including The 1975, Sam Fender, Foals, Blossoms, Tame Impala, Sam Smith, and Kylie Minogue, was given over exclusively to the college, giving students the opportunity to make their mark on a stage with an impressive musical history.
A1 and A2 students delivered a varied programme, with acoustic performances and DJ sets alongside six bands performing classic hits. From stripped-back arrangements to full-band performances, the evening showcased the talent, creativity, and hard work of the college’s Music Production students.
A packed audience brought a brilliant atmosphere to the venue as students stepped beyond the classroom and into the spotlight. Performing on a professional stage gave them the chance to put their skills into practice, build their confidence, and experience the excitement of a live gig in the heart of Manchester.
For students developing their own musical ambitions, playing a venue that has hosted internationally recognised artists made the occasion particularly special. The evening was both a celebration of how far they have come and a glimpse of where their talent could take them next.
The gig reflects Ashton Sixth Form College’s commitment to giving students opportunities to develop their skills beyond their studies, gain practical industry experience and explore careers in the creative industries.
