The first event took place in Ashton on Monday where residents can meet council decision makers and help shape plans for their local areas in a series of new public engagement meetings across the nine towns of Tameside
Cabinet in the Community meetings, to be held throughout September and October, will give residents the opportunity to meet Tameside Council’s Executive Cabinet – senior councillors who hold decision-making responsibility for the authority – as well as their local ward members.
People attending the meetings will be able to ask questions and give their views on how they want their local town and the wider borough to develop over the next five years. They will also have the chance to feedback on how they want to be involved in future decision-making.
The feedback will help to inform the Borough Plan, which will set out a vision for Tameside so that together residents, businesses, community organisations, the council and other partner organisations can continue to create a place that works for everyone where people can live improved lives.
It will also help to develop a new structure for local engagement to replace the existing Neighbourhood Forums.
Tameside Council Executive Leader Cllr Eleanor Wills said: “We want everyone to have the chance to get to know who is making decisions on their behalf for the council, ask questions and tell us what’s important to you.
“Listening to people is important to us - we want to know what you think is working well in your local area and across Tameside and your ideas to improve things further.
“We’re bringing the meetings to you in your local areas to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get involved and have your say. By working together we can be a mighty force in changing things for the better to lives for everyone.”
The series of meetings will run from 6.30-8.30pm and continue as follows:
- Thursday 25 Sept – Audenshaw – Ryecroft Hall
- Monday 6 October – Hyde – Hyde Town Hall
