Drug driver who had taken cocaine arrested in Audenshaw

A drug driver, who has previously been convicted of the offence, has been caught behind the wheel with cocaine in his system in Audenshaw.

He was arrested after providing a positive roadside drugs test for the Class A drug.

The man, who hasn't been named by police, also gave a blood sample for drugs testing while in custody and has since been released under investigation.

Police say he has a previous conviction for drug driving from two years ago and that enquiries will now be made with his motor insurance company.

The arrest came as neighbourhood officers from Greater Manchester Police's Tameside West team conducted a 'speed enforcement' operation on Monday evening (3 August) in Audenshaw.

The aforementioned drug driver was one of three people stopped on Audenshaw Road and Stamford Road for exceeding the speed limit, with the other two drivers given verbal advice about their speed.
