Fire crews rushed to a blaze at a chippy in Dukinfield yesterday afternoon.
Three fire engines were called out to Church Street Chippy in Dukinfield at around 12.15pm on Wednesday (September 2nd).
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 12:15pm this afternoon (Wednesday 2 September), three fire engines from Oldham, Hollins and Mossley stations were called to a fire at a commercial premises on Church Street, Dukinfield.
“Crews arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels, foam extinguishers and other specialist equipment to extinguish the fire. "
Several roads were closed while firefighters tackled the blaze, which is reported to have started in the chimney flue. Smoke was seen billowing out of both the chimney and the front of the shop. The fire was extinguished by the afternoon.
