A 43-year-old man is in custody after threatening two police officers with a knife on Saturday night.
Officers arrested the man on suspicion of robbing a business at knife point after seeing him run from a building at 9:45pm on King Street in Dukinfield while on a routine patrol.
They gave chase, but GMP say the suspect turned to threaten the pair when they caught up with him.
However, the officers arrested him without being injured.
Tameside DCI Abdul Kahar said: “This was an excellent arrest and I am very proud of the officers involved who reacted quickly and in the interests of keeping the public safe.
“Knives have no place on our streets – they bring only violence and misery and we will continue to work tirelessly to remove them and hold any offenders to account.”
The sale or possession of zombie knives and machetes was recently outlawed, with a nationwide amnesty leading to at least 39,000 blades being handed in.
