Daddies Escape club captain Liam Mellon has been left humbled by the response from friends, family and running partners in the wake of a car accident which denied him the chance to complete the Tour of Tameside earlier this month.
Liam was on his way to complete the last leg of the Tour – the Dr Ron Hyde 7 Mile – when he and his wife Leanne were involved in a collision that ruled him out of the race.
Fortunately, the couple escaped relatively unscathed and Liam recovered well in the week that followed.
Such was the response to Liam’s accident, social media was awash with messages of support from various runners and the wider public, while an idea to complete the same course on Tuesday night attracted no less than 80 runners.
We spoke to Liam following the race. Here's what he had to say.
