A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison after a spate of thefts in Tameside.
Dean Walker (pictured), of no fixed abode, appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court this morning (Wednesday) in relation to four offences of shoplifting and a breach of court order.
Walker pleaded guilty and was given an 18-week custodial sentence.
He stole meat, cigarettes and a poppy charity box belonging to the Royal British Legion.
PC Martin Jones, the Neighbourhood Beat Officer for the Dukinfield ward, also said he also failed to comply with his court order by not turning up for two appointments.
Walker was arrested and charged yesterday (Tuesday).
