An employee of Sainsbury's in Ashton stole televisions worth £3,000 from the store on Lord Sheldon Way.
Appearing at Tameside magistrates, Richard Cain pleaded guilty to taking the sets on February 27 this year.
Magistrates jailed him for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months.
They said the theft had been planned and breached the trust of his employer.
The 31-year-old was ordered to pay compensation of £3,000, plus £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £115.
His address was given as being in Prestwich.
