Tameside's lantern parade - which opens the borough's Christmas celebrations each year - will be taking place in Hyde this year.
This comes after it was announced last month that the event would be taking place in Ashton-under-Lyne permanently going forward, as opposed to moving around the area each year like it has done in the past.
However, this is unable to materialise as regeneration work will be under way in the town by November.
The Council have said that the switch will be "a great opportunity" for Hyde to 'showcase itself and to attract people into the town centre".
