At the start of the new Rotary year, outgoing president Karen Dorney handed over the reins to the newly elected president Vicky Gaunt.
Vicky accepted her chain of office at a grand installation ceremonial dinner held on Friday at Hyde’s Oakland’s Hall.
The club, which is now in its 83rd year, entertained 48 guests including Vicky’s close family and friends, Assistant Governor Marian Basu and members from the Rotary club of Tameside.
Local business people Vicky and her husband Aidan, who was president of the club in 2014-2015, have been Rotarians for 10 years and are the joint proprietors of Aidan Gaunt Funeral Services in Hyde.
Speaking after the event, Vicky said: “I would like to thank Karen for leading the club in the last 12 months - she is going to be a difficult act to follow.
“In my year we will continue to support local and international community projects, polio eradication, and Rotary International charities.”
