Rockstar Games Accused By Trade Union Of Sacking Staff For Unionising

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) maker Rockstar Games has been accused by a trade union of sacking staff in the UK to stop them from unionising.

The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB), which represents people working in the gaming sector, said 31 workers were fired from Rockstar's UK studios on 30 October.

The union led rallies outside the company's offices in Edinburgh and London on Thursday to protest what it described as "the most blatant and ruthless act of union busting in the history of the games industry".

Council Chief Apologised For Data Breach

A council chief has apologised after hundreds of residents' sensitive data was mistakenly shared online.

Some names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of 625 people who responded to South Gloucestershire Council's consultation on 24 October were published online for three days.

Once the error was spotted, council officers took "very prompt action" to remove the data and report the breach to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

GTA 6 Developed By Rockstar Leeds Studios

Grand Theft Auto VI - the latest instalment of the hugely successful GTA series - is developed by the Rockstar Leeds studio.

It may be the most famous title associated with the Yorkshire games industry, but there are hundreds of smaller studios and solo developers who are hoping their ideas become the next PlayStation and Xbox hits.

They want the government to take them more seriously and encourage the sector's growth away from London.
