West Tameside communities celebrate grants allocation

TEN community groups in the west of Tameside have successfully secured funding at the Tameside Communities Grant event, held on 4 June.

For the fifth consecutive year, Tameside Council’s Community Safety Partnership has provided grants to support local groups in improving their neighbourhoods.

The event, held at New Chapel Unitarian in Denton, saw 12 shortlisted community groups pitch their projects to residents and fellow organisations from the west wards; Denton, Audenshaw and Droylsden.

Successful projects focused on empowerment, strengthening communities, preventing neighbourhood crime, and reducing harm and offending.

Alongside a fantastic and supportive atmosphere, the event also provided valuable networking opportunities for participating groups.

The winners were:

  • Little Lambs Haughton Green
  • Friends of Tame Valley
  • Men’s Merry Crew Audenshaw
  • Fairfield Outdoor Adventures
  • Tameside People 4 Wildlife
  • Ensemble Theatre
  • Assheton Avenue Audenshaw
  • Fairfield Moravian Allotment Society
  • Royal Mencap Society
  • Droylsden Sports & Community Centre

Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Towns, Transport, and Connectivity, Cllr Stephen Homer, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many passionate community groups coming together to make a real difference across the west of Tameside. These projects highlight the power of local people in creating safer, stronger and more connected neighbourhoods.

“Events like this not only provide funding but also give groups the opportunity to share ideas, build partnerships and support one another, which is just as important. Well done to all involved!”
