Bradbury Community House opens its new doors

High Peak Mayor Cllr Paul Hardy and MP Robert Largan were among those present at Bradbury Community House to mark the official reopening on Friday (15 October).

The new electronic doors are symbolic of the start of a new chapter in the life of the much-loved community facility.

The £4,800 update has been made possible thanks to support from Glossop Round Table, Glossopdale Masonic Lodge, Isaac Jackson Trust, and Mary Ellen Allen Trust.

Work was needed as the previous doors at the building were old and spare parts were difficult to come by and regulations around automatic doors had also changed.

Representatives of all the organisations responsible for raising the funds were present for the reopening which marks the end of a difficult 18 months due to Covid 19.

The self-supporting charity is looking forward to a return to normality and welcoming back all the groups who previously used the House facilities.

Funding is reliant on renting out rooms for use by other charities, community groups, social groups, local business meetings and Local Authority meetings.

By letting rooms for business and civil meetings, they can keep rents for charity and social groups as low as possible.
