Hayfield and New Mills to elect new parish and town councils

Hayfield Parish Council office

Voters in Hayfield and New Mills will be asked to vote to elect their new parish or town council at local elections in May.

Hayfield Parish Council is split into two wards - Hayfield West with two seats and Hayfield Town with eight seats.

As there were only two candidates to represent Hayfield West, Tony Ashton and David Gouldthorpe have been elected unopposed.

In Hayfield Town, there are 10 candidates for the eight vacancies. Contesting the election will be: Jody Lesley Appleton, Lisa Bevins, Mick Conway, Abby Feetham, David Graeme Fenton, Eva Lawson, Paul Senior, David Toft, Joss Underwood and Jackie Wilson.

New Mills Town Council is split into three wards - Thornsett, Ollersett and Whitle.

Two candidates, Michelle Ann Bancroft and Lyn Bannister, have been elected unopposed to the two vacancies in the Thornsett Ward.

In the Whitle and Ollersett Wards, which each have five vacancies, there are six candidates and therefore an election will take place.

The candidates for the Ollersett Ward are: Steven Charles Davey, Matthew Paul Donovan, Beth Mary Eadie, Simon Evans, Aaron Jones, and Katy Jill Pearson.

For the Whitle Ward, the candidates are: David Mark Aris-Sutton, Andrew Philip Denton, David Lamb, Margaret Le Messurier-Ritchie, John Westbrook Reed, and Liam Andrew Stowell.
