Hundreds of mourners gathered in Glodwick today (Monday) to bid a heartfelt farewell to community champion Jewel Miah MBE.
The father-of-three died on Friday, following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Family, friends and colleagues from Manchester Airport's Border Force, attended his funeral at Jalalabad Jamay Mosque on Sickle Street.
Widely known and respected across the borough, the 48-year-old was awarded an MBE for his commitment and dedication to uniting communities through football.
His sudden demise shocked many in the community, prompting an outpouring of condolences on social media.
Jewel, who lived in Coppice, became a role model to the younger members of the Asian community and his tireless work became a force for good to salvage youngsters who may be otherwise lost to drugs and anti-social behaviour.
Jewel, who worked as a border force officer at Manchester Airport, played a pivotal role in introducing junior football in Glodwick through his chairmanship of the Red Star Bengal FC.
