Oldham Mountain Rescue Team was called to assist North West Ambulance Service after a gentleman injured his ankle while bravely coming to the aid of a swan at Alkrington Woods on Monday.
Working alongside the paramedics, they helped administer pain relief and splinted the injured ankle.
Once the casualty was made comfortable and safe to move, the team carried him by stretcher to the waiting ambulance for onward care.
Said an OMRT spokesperson:” A good example of effective joint working with our ambulance service colleagues. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and hope the swan is doing well too!”
The rescue duration took 2.5 hours and involved 18 team members.
