Curzon Ashton season fixtures

The National League has announced its fixtures for the forthcoming season - and Curzon Ashton open their account with a home game against Alfreton Town

Steve Cunningham's side are preparing for their sixth consecutive season in the National League North.

Cunningham, who joined in May having spent six successful years at Colne, has already made his mark at the club by bringing in a new wave of players.

Max Harrop, a midfielder, has joined from Altrincham after helping the Robins to promotion last season, whilst former Stockport County captain paul Turnbull, who has played as high as League One, has also put pen to paper.

There is a real blend of experiences and youthful players, with Isaac Sinclair - son of former England and Manchester City winger Trevor - also agreeing new terms.

Defender Olly Thornley is also staying at the Tameside Stadium having become a fans’ favourite with his no-nonse displays despite his young age.

As well as taking charge of first team matters, Cunningham will also be engaging with the Women’s Team, the Community Foundation, and other elements of the club, as he aims to bring everyone together under one umbrella.

Curzon begin their campaign with a home game against Alfreton Town.

Other notable fixtures include a visit to Southport on Boxing Day and a visit to Darlington’s 25,000 capacity Echo Arena on Saturday, April 17 - although this may chance over the coming months depending on Coronavirus rules.

The Quakers are returning to the arena on a temporary basis at their current home of Blackwell Meadows doesn’t have the capacity to meet season ticket demand amid the ongoing restrictions due to Covid-19.

The Nash also have a long trip to Gateshead on Tuesday, November 10.

Oldham made the trip to the Wirral on Saturday to play Hoylake, finding themselves on the losing side.

  • Wasteful Nash beaten on the road

Curzon Ashton’s miserable record against Kidderminster Harriers continued on Saturday, as a single goal was enough to see the hosts get the better of the Nash at Aggborough.
