Flanagan leaves the Lilywhites

Mossley assistant manager John Flanagan has left his role with immediate effect.

Flanagan leaves the Lilywhites following Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Brighouse Town.

The former Curzon Ashton boss joined the club earlier this season but, following an amicable discussion with manager Dave Wild, has decided to step aside.

Wild issued the following statement on the club's website:

“John and I made the decision for him to step away from his role within the club after an amicable discussion following yesterday’s game. We both agreed that it’s a decision for the best of everyone.

“I’ve throughly enjoyed working with him and have achieved what I wanted which is to develop and learn from a man with such experience. He’s brought a real professionalism into the camp and helped to shift the mentality of the club which is only a positive.

“Our vision for the group and how we do things is different at the moment. We all have ideas on how we achieve what’s best and sometimes these can differ but we must continue to strive forward as one.

“It’s the world of football and my job is to now continue to develop and work hard with our young group to produce the results our performances deserve.”
