Stalybridge Celtic host Altrincham this evening in the Cheshire Senior Cup first round.
Simon Haworth's side enter the game having not played at the weekend due to a frozen pitch. They will, however, be looking to collect their fifth consecutive victory in all competitions, having won their previous three league fixtures and also beating Ashton United to book their place in the second round of the Integro Cup.
Despite Celtic's great run of form, Altrincham will fancy their chances of progressing tonight if they field a strengthened side. Phil Parkinon's side are currently 16th in the National League North - one division above Celtic - and enjoyed a memorable FA Cup run which ended in heartbreaking circumstances at League One Portsmouth on Saturday. The Robins fought from a goal behind to level matters at Fratton Park, but with seconds on the clock remaining Brett Pitman broke Altrincham hearts with a 94th minute winner.
As devastating as defeat was, Altrincham's run in the competition has generated more than £72,000 in prize money alone.
