A section of Newmarket Road in Ashton was closed in both directions after a crash in the early hours of the morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene near the junction of Downing Street at 4:45am, where they found a car with a crumpled bonnet next to a collapsed streetlight.
One woman has been taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.
According to a GMP spokesperson, it was a "one car RTC" and wasn't involved in a police pursuit.
The road was cordoned off between Taunton Hall Close and Taunton Place, with the 230 and 231 buses being diverted along Market Street and Lord Sheldon Way.
Newmarket Road reopened at around 10am.
