There is no Planet B - that's the stark conclusion about Climate Change drawn by the Eco Council at Arundale Primary School in Hattersley.
Their finding mirrors exactly the thoughts of the UN’s experts, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Their report, released this month, concludes: “It’s now or never if we want to limit global warming.”
Arundale, along with Discovery, Pinfold and St James in Hattersley, plus Broadbottom and Mottram schools, have created some fantastic murals about the effects of climate change on health.
The project, entitled ‘Healthy Planet - Healthy People’, was inspired by the COP26 summit held in November 2021 in Glasgow and completed with help from Hattersley Health Champions and Healthy Hyde Team.
Last week, their completed works were unveiled at an art show especially for the participants.
The works show some wonderful creativity and a diversity of ideas, from Mottram’s, cherish the planet, to Pinfold’s thought bubbles rising in the ocean, the fine artwork of St James and Broadbottom’s healthy bees.
The murals will be mounted permanently outside Hattersley Group Practice, Hattersley Road East, Hattersley, for everyone to enjoy.
The project was funded by Onward Homes and gtd healthcare.
