Tameside College celebrates successes with higher education graduation ceremony.

Students who completed their qualifications with the college participated in the ceremony on December 6 at Dukinfield Town Hall.

Guests included family and friends of the graduates, The Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Tafheen Sharif, college governor Jackie Moores, principal and CEO of Tameside College and Dr Nena Skrbic, head of division for lifelong learning at the University of Huddersfield.

Graduates paraded into the ceremony before speeches were conducted by Dr Skrbic and Jackie Moores, congratulating them on their achievements and discussing the value of higher education for students’ careers.

Dr Skrbic said: “It is a privilege to be asked to speak to you tonight on a splendid occasion and a huge celebration for you all. This is an extraordinary moment, not just for you, as graduates, but for the proud parents, family members and friends amongst us today. It is also a moment of great pride for the lecturers and tutors who have supported our graduates along the way.”

Students graduating studied various courses with the college, ranging from electronic engineering and computing to teaching assistance and travel and tourism management.

Jackie Moores, principal and CEO at Tameside College said: “This evening marks a milestone in your learning journey. It is our way of celebrating you and how well you’ve done. It is a celebration of your dedication, determination & enthusiasm. Tameside puts skills at the heart of its regeneration plan. Your qualifications and skills will add value to the local economy. The borough can attract various employers to invest by developing a highly skilled workforce. Congratulations, class of 2022/23, you did it!”

Tameside College offers a variety of higher education courses, such as HNCs, HNDs and foundation degrees in various subjects, from computing to teaching.
