Together again for Easter fun day in Droylsden

Community spirit borne from lockdown culminated in an Easter funday on Sunday for some 90 Droylsden residents.

Friendships blossomed during the pandemic as residents along Sutton Drive rallied round to support each other and keep each other entertained during the tough and uncertain time.

That community spirit continues to shine as the street came together to hold its second successful Easter funday.

Kirsty Hanley, one of the organisers, said the day had gone wonderfully well with residents, plus other families and friends attending.

“We had egg and spoon races, a pancake tossing relay, face painting, an egg decorating contest and food provided by a local catering company who live on the street with donations being accepted on behalf of the town’s Crimewatchers Group,” said Kirsty.

There was a visit from the Easter Bunny and Easter egg hunt through a number of residents’ gardens.

Kirsty explained that lockdown had brought the street together and they had held a socially distanced party and games of bingo to keep everyone’s spirits up at the time, resulting in the first successful Easter fun day being held last year.

The local community ‘Crimewatchers’ group patrol local streets around Droylsden every night to ensure everyone is feeling safe in their own homes and also supporting the police, with a number of members attending this year’s fun day too.
