In honour of Dementia Action week, community fundraiser Angie Wild held a "Music & Memories" event for the second year running.

This year's celebration, which has been branded a "huge success", took place at Ashton's Albion Church on Stamford Street East last Monday.

From 12:45pm to 3pm, attendees were invited to join in singalongs with a live choir, the aim being to bring people together and support the week of action.

Tameside Community Voices, Do Your Things and Peter Lee gave the group a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon of songs and brought back happy memories for the residents.

Jill Sweeney and Mags Magee went along from the Alzheimer’s Society to provide advice and information. A craft stall and raffle was also hosted by some of Angie's friends.

"Albion Church is a fabulous venue and the acoustics were amazing," Angie said.

"Everyone had a fabulous time and the feedback has been wonderful. It just makes me happy that everyone enjoyed themselves.

She added: "This was my 2nd fundraiser in two days and we've raised well over £1,000 all going to the Alzheimer’s Society.  Dementia affects so many lives including our family. We have sadly lost loved ones to the cruel disease and my dear Auntie now in a care home.

"Massive thanks again to everyone who supported my event.  Without you this wouldn’t have been possible."
